Thanks Malcolm, after two days, I find I can't wait for the test to be over, so I can get back to my usual low carb intake of under 30 gms per day.
It's a real pain, and I know I am putting on weight already!

Well that's a good sign in itself! How long before your test?

Do you think 20-40gms of Carbs per day are a reasonable amount? or should I cut it to 20-30?
I seem to get plenty of Veggies "etc" when I stick to the lower. but if I want to have my Yoguhrt (I strain it to get rid of the Whey) it will cost me about 5 gms per day.

I think you want to do what is comfortable for you and what is going to make your change a life long change. The only reason I said 'very low for a couple of days' is that for some people it helps to get back on track quickly after a binge - even one like yours where the 'binge' wasn't too bad, and wasn't your idea in the first place!Laughing

So, if you are losing weight and feeling great, by all means have the extra. The only fly in that ointment could be if your test reveals you are a diabetic - which isn't the end of the world - you already are a long way down the track to treating it - but it would mean you need to look at your carb intake as it affects your blood sugar, with that being the highest priority (in front of weight loss even). But lets burn that bridge when we come to it!Razz If there are any changes they are likely to be minimal. Smile

Do you make your own yoghurt? Especially if you do, plus draining the whey, you should be able to get/count the carbs as pretty low.

Back on track again, yesterday was a very low carb day, about 4 gm,
today has been good as well about 4gms.
Doctor was a bit surprised when she seen my blood results, everything was back to normal or close, except my sugar, 6.9, waiting to see her again to find out my Blood Glucose test in a couple of weeks, fingers crossed it's not too bad, but will deal with whatever happens, with low carb.
Malcolm, I make the Easi Yo Yoghurt, usually the Greek Style, then I strain it thru a couple of paper towel sheets, they tell me without the whey, the carb count is cut to about 1/2, it's amazing how much whey strains off, sometimes I add some frozen berries, and a bit of diet Jelly, makes a good sweet.

6.9 is not great - but ... this will be your A1c - which is an indirect measurement of the average amount of blood sugar you have had in your system over the last 3 months. The good news there is that you haven't been back on the low carb path for all of the last 3 months? ... right? In which case your next test should show an improvement ... which will "surprise" your doc even more!! Laughing The other results (for your GTT may well suggest you are a diabetic (as would an A1c of 7 or more) - but as you say you are already doing what is required so there shouldn't be much change - although your doc may suggest Metformin for a while (have we covered this?) which might not be such a bad plan - it will help.

Oh ok - I have never tried it. Mine is simpler still if anything and you could probably try it in you Easi Yo container. I zap a litre of milk (in a jug) in the microwave on high for 11 minutes (this kills the bugs as it raises the temp to 85+ - then it goes in the fridge until it is 44 - you can time this too so you don't need to mess about with a thermometer - about 30mins. Then it goes in the insulated container with a spoonful of the old batch.

- oh, and if you do it this way the carbs should be less (say around 3g per 100 ml). If you strain the whey off, less still.

When I make it your way, do I put hot water in the easi Yo container or let the warm milk do it's thing on it's own? in the insulator.

Depends how good an insulator it is - I'd try it with fairly warm water (same as the milk) and see what happens. I have an old Decor insulated yoghurt maker which relies just on the insulation, but it is quite thick - maybe an inch of insulation?

Good news!! My Blood Glucose came back within the normal range, as I expected the doc was a bit taken aback,
as we keep saying, low carb does work!!

She should get used to it! And maybe one of your goals is to get her to say it herself Wink

Many thanks.

Actually 'my way' you just add a spoonful of the old yoghurt (or from a store bought source every so often - as long as it has "live cultures") ... but I'm glad it worked! Smile
