Hi everyone,
I thought it might be time to finally say hello on here. I read a post from someone else the other day that mentioned they had been a lurker for many years.....I'm guilty of that as well!!
When I attempted to register tonight, it said I was already registered years ago but I don't think I have ever posted. I have been a low carber 4 or 5 times before and each time I lose significant amounts of weight and feel happy and confident and fabulous...but somehow have always fallen off the wagon.
I have been back on the wagon since early Jan and decided to take it easy and see what happens this time around. I know this works for me and I knew I had to make it an everyday part of my life rather than a diet.
I haven't lost an enormous amount of weight like I have in the past. It's only 6kgs in about 5 weeks but I must admit I have been a lazy slacker this time! It's time to get my butt off the lounge and get out there and exercise now I have conquered the food side of things.
In the past when I have low carbed I made silly, unsatisfying food choices. I was unprepared and found myself eating cheese and shaved turkey for lunch which is not terribly exciting! This time around I have been cooking up a storm from recipes on this website and forum and everything I eat is exciting!! I now live alone and can make whatever I like for dinner! I know I have put on heaps of weight because I love cooking and tying new foods and recipes, so it was obvious I needed to do that with low-carb cooking!
For the first time ever low-carbing I am not constantly dreaming of pasta and bread and mars bars! I smell toast in the kitchen at work and go yes it smells nice, but I don't really care about it as I had something lovely for breakfast at home already. My boss is on Lite n Easy at the moment and she cooks her lunch and complains about how small and boring it is and then I walk past her desk with my delicious low carb meals and she is insanely jealous!
Anyway, I just wanted to say hi to you guys and to thank you so much for all your informative posts and the recipes on this site. I am aiming to cook 3 new recipes a week and am many months away from running out of new recipes!
Wow, I have rambled a bit but I hope I get to know you all as the months progress and we continue to live our lighter, happier lives with DELICIOUS food!

Hi Shell,
You probably already know we like to welcome newcomers around here. Even though you aren't a newcomer ... welcome anyway!
Sounds like you are doing great - and just remember, if you lose anything like a kilo a week over time you are doing very, very well. Most people don't. So don't get impatient (easy to say I know) Just think of where you will be in 3 months ... in a year (well in a year you may have disappeared completely! )
Sounds like you have a great plan to keep yourself happy this time (and you might work on bringing your boss in from the cold with both your results and your far superior food!) But one way to keep yourself 'honest' might be to start a diary here - for food AND exercise. As you know you will get no end of support if you do.
Also, let us know what your favourite recipes are and share any new ones you come up with, ok?
Oh and have a word with all the other lurkers out there won't you? _________________ Cheers,

Welcome ShellBelle!
I think that if you can get 2-3 weeks worth of reasonably simple low-carb recipes under your belt it is a lot easier to keep up the momentum. I still try and cook at least one new recipe a week if I can and I’ve put all of my favourites into my own cookbook. _________________ True genius resides in the capacity for evaluation of uncertain, hazardous, and conflicting information.....Winston Churchill

Well since you did - one of my pet peeves - you see it everywhere on diet forums (and yes my spelling isn't great) ...
... the word is losing!! Anyone who spells it any other way is a loose ... umm ... male or female! _________________ Cheers,
