Hi All,

So glad to of found this site ... I've spent the last couple of months since getting the all clear from the Dr to be able to start a weight loss plan looking at all kinds of diets and have dilly dallied in a few but just couldn't find one that actually fit in with my lifestyle. I have severe bowel problem that finds me going for upto 14 days without a single movement, and I've been told to cut out wheat, gluten and sugar - so I have been looking into different "diets" and discovered a whole world of people living the lifestyle I need to be living. I've just taken The Power of Protein by Chris Smith out of my local library after having a good read through it as I discovered it fits me perfectley - no wheat, not gluten and no sugar - apparently Low Carb is the life for me, not only can I sort my bowel health out but I can lose weight and be happy!!

Welcome YM! Smile

I haven't read any of Chris Smith's books but from what I recall they are largely recipe books? Nice to get an Aussie perspective of course, but if you are interested in more of the "why" of low carb ... especially as it relates to bowel/intestinal health, I recommend you get hold of this book - there is a good chapter on the subject, and any info on why low carb is much better for you than all the low fat, whole grain nonsense that you hear about constantly is helpful as you settle in to this for the rest of your life.

Great that your doctor is on side (a rare thing).

Make sure you ask as many questions as you like - that is what 'we' are here for.
